2008

I was raised in the ghost town of Brudenell   It’s tiny hamlet of less than 30 people.

In the summer we picked wild strawberries, raspberries and apples which Mom would preserve.  In our garden we grew corn, potatoes, onions, carrots and beets.

Some Ways to Make Money In Brudenell

When I was little, to make some money, I picked up empty beer bottles along the road, collect dew worms and make ice in our fridge to sell to cottagers. We had good water because our well was an artesian spring.  When I was 14 I cut cedar (leaf for the oil, and cedar posts for fencing)

Summer after Dad died I was 16 and joined the the cement crew, working the snake in Killaloe.helping to do the big retaining wall, sidewalks and gutters.

Summer after that Guy Dwyer and I were hired by the township to build the change rooms at Gorman Lake and Hardwood lake, which have been use for over 25 years,
